The band was formed in Berriozar, a city in the northerly province of Navarre, Spain, by vocalist/poet Kutxi Romero (born Kutxi Romero Lorente in 1975), wHO had exhausted basketball team long time fronting a series of local bands. GOR released the album in September, issuing "Barniz" as a single. Revolcón proved significantly more successful than its herald, and Marea saw their fan fundament maturate as they toured in support of the album. So in October 2001 they began negotiating with DRO Records (a former self-governing Spanish tag of significant prestige that had been founded in 1982 by the isthmus Aviador Dro, DRO in the end fell under major-label possession [i.e., Warner Music], becoming an affiliate of East West Records [DRO East West] and, in turn, Atlantic [DRO Atlantic]).With their third base label abbreviate signed in as many days, Marea went about recording their third base record album, Besos de Perro, in February 2002 with producer Iñaki "Uoho" Antón, a guitarist in the bands Extremoduro and Platero y Tú. The five-spot age of touring intelligibly had built a bombastic fan bag for Marea, and the dividends were reaped with 28.000 Puñaladas, which spawned a number of hit singles ("A la Mierda Primavera," "El Rastro," "La Rueca") and was the band's first appurtenance album to form a commercial impact internationally. DRO even released a prodigious CD/DVD edition featuring concert footage and picture clips for the singles. Marea were like a blastoff well naturalized as one of Spain's whirligig john Lackland Rock bands, as well as one of the top rock en español bands globally. Their place was confirmed upon the release of their following album, Las Aceras Están Llenas de Piojos (2007), which debuted at identification number one.
